As you may already know, we offer five- and six-night stays at our retreat near Iquitos for those wishing to explore Ayahuasca. However, if you’re coming this far, why not explore other things in Peru before or after your visit here?

Iquitos is the closest city, and it’s a fascinating port city to visit by itself. But Peru has so much to offer. Take advantage of being here to see some of it. Here are some ideas.

Machu Picchu

Most of you have probably heard of Machu Picchu, the seat of the Incan Empire. There’s also the whole Valley of the Incas along the Urubamba River with tons to see. Tours can be arranged ahead of time or in Cusco, the ancient Incan capital.

Ballestas Islands

Peru has a long coastline on the Pacific, and one of the great things to see is the Ballestas Islands often referred to as the Galapagos of Peru. It’s probably the best place to see for amazing wildlife.

Don’t forget Peru’s capital city. Peru has a growing economy and a rich history. Lima has endless museums, cathedrals, shopping, and food to see and try. Maybe you’d like to see Lima on the way here, and then you can relax with us after the hustle and bustle of the city.

Colca Canyon

Do you like hiking? Then consider a visit to the Colca Canyon, which happens to be twice as deep as the Grand Canyon in the United States. Perhaps you’ll get to see an Andean Condor with its wingspan of over three meters.

The Amazon Jungle

You may not know that Peru has an enormous jungle (rainforest) area that is second only to Brazil in square miles. One of the best entry points into the jungle is Iquitos, so, experiencing the jungle is easy before or after coming here.

There are riverboat trips available out of Iquitos, and many jungle lodges to choose from if you would like to immerse yourself in a jungle experience.

Everyone at East West Lodge wishes you a Happy Holiday season and a wonderful New Year. Come and visit us in 2018.
