3 Things to Know Before Your First Ayahuasca ExperienceObviously, we spend a lot of time prepping our guests for what to expect before they come to our retreat. For those who are not in contact with us yet, here are some things that we think are important for you to know before trying Ayahuasca for the first time.

Ayahuasca is Not a Magic and Instant Solution to Everything

Some people think they will arrive fresh off the plane, try Ayahuasca and then go home with all their problems solved. It’s not that simple. There is preparation required before arriving, and there are some habits we recommend for after you go home including dietary changes and exercises in self-discovery in order to get the most out of your experience.

Ayahuasca is strong medicine, but it is not a cure-all. It is prescribed by the shaman in conjunction with several other recommendations. While Ayahuasca may be useful in treating many kinds of ailments, it is not magic.

We view the Ayahuasca experience as just one step in the reworking of your life and lifestyle into something healthier.

Once is Not Enough

While trying Ayahuasca for the first time can be a profound and life-changing experience, most people derive the most benefit from experiencing it more than once in addition to making some other suggested changes in their lives.

Indigenous people, who have used Ayahuasca for centuries, view Ayahuasca as part of an ongoing therapy. Although you will benefit from trying it once, you will benefit more from trying it more than once.

Everyone Experiences Something Different

Everyone is different. We look different, feel differently and are different shapes and sizes. The shaman tailors the dose and the ritual to each individual to address his or her special needs.

This means that you will not experience exactly what your friend or neighbor did six months previously or even right next to you in the same Ceremony Moloca. You need not be preoccupied with what is happening with anyone else because your experience will be different than that person.
